The GNB & Western Valley Wellness Network Workplace wellness committees would like to invite you to take part in our Workplace Wellness S.M.A.R.T Event. The event is being held on January 25th, 2018 at the Ayr Motor Centre in Woodstock, NB.

The day will begin & end with a S.M.A.R.T. Goal workshop from 10:30 – 11:30 am or from 1:30 – 2:30 pm. The presentation is being offered by the Diabetes Canada – Health Coach for the Western Valley. If anyone is interested they must pre-register using the attached form which can be returned to me.

There will be a Health & Wellness Fair open to everyone from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. During this fair you can visit crafters, oils, healthy eating booths or have your blood pressure, cholesterol or blood glucose checked all for free. Or perhaps you are included in this email because you operate a health & wellness business or could be connected to a business related to health & wellness.

There will also be a healthy buffet lunch offered to all who stop by during the event. The lunch will be offered from 11:30 – 1:30 pm.

Dans le cadre de notre Carnaval d’hiver 2018, la municipalité du Village de Memramcook, avec l’aide de Bruno Richard, athlète en ice cross downhill, présentera la seule course d’ice cross downhill du Canada atlantique cet hiver.

Inventé en 2001, l’ice cross downhill est un sport rapide, physique et tactique dans lequel pour réussir, les athlètes doivent être familiers avec les pentes, la vitesse, les duels au coude-à-coude et les épreuves d’agilité. Pendant la course, des groupes de 4 athlètes atteindront des vitesses jusqu’à 70 km à l’heure sur une piste d’environ 300 m qui inclura sauts, virages et obstacles, mais les règlements sont très simples : le/la premier/ière rendu(e) en bas, gagne.

L’événement s’étalera sur 2 soirées de 19 h à 22 h, la première soirée étant les préliminaires et la deuxième soirée étant la finale. En gros, la municipalité s’attend d’attirer plus de 80 athlètes amateurs et au-delà de 4 000 spectateurs. Il y aura des activités pour toute la famille incluant des feux d’artifices lors de la finale, un feu de joie, de la musique, les courses et encore plus. Notre objectif est non seulement de promouvoir ce sport et notre communauté mais de créer un événement unique et spectaculaire qu’on souhaite répéter année après année. Sensations fortes garanties!

Camp begins at 7pm on Friday and pick up is at 2pm on Sunday.
