Postnatal Wellness - a Newborn New Life Program @ Hop Skip Jump (Party Room)

Our Postnatal Wellness Group meets once a week for 7 weeks. This program is by registration only, and we learn through fun activities and guest speakers how to care for and adjust to life with baby, snacks are served and it’s a great opportunity to meet other Moms. The next session is scheduled to begin Wednesday, March 13th, 10am-noon. Transportation assistance is available if needed. This program is only for parents of babies 0-12 months, no older children please.

You are invited to our Mothers Mental Health Program. It is a place where you can meet other moms and share your experience with Perinatal Mood Disorders including Depression and Anxiety.
Moms supporting Moms, sharing struggles and successes, encouraging and empowering each other, as we work through the Mother’s Mental Health Tool Kit.
Topics include wellness and self care, nutrition, support, stress management, and more. Meanwhile your child(ren) are cared for by Oulton Early Childhood Student Volunteers.
Next session runs Monday mornings, for 6 weeks, 10:30am-12:30pm, beginning April 1st, 2019.

A Day in Her Shoes will be Wednesday May 8th at Market Square Atrium. The evening will include a spring fashion show, hors d’oeuvres, wine, silent auction, 50/50 draw, musical performance, and a keynote address by Saint John entrepreneur, Yennah Hurley.

Every Tuesday afternoon, approximately ten older adults meet in The Gathering Place at the Library for an afternoon of board and card games. The staff prepares refreshments for this social time. It has been operating for several years and recently some of the group started meeting another afternoon to learn a new game.

Topics covered include; pregnancy discomforts and cautions, nutrition, when to call the doctor, comfort measures, labour & delivery, medical interventions, breastfeeding, car seat safety, newborn baby care, mental health / postnatal care, and more.
Meeting once a week for 7 weeks, you will learn through a combination of presentations from local partners, group discussions, videos, fun games and activities, snacks are offered and there are special prizes for parents to be. En faisant l’achat d’un billet de 100$ – vous payez votre soirée (repas inclus) et celui d’une personne à besoins spéciaux.

Ce qui rend cette soirée magique est que les personnes typiques parrainent une personne à besoins spéciaux et créer des liens très intéressants qui restent pour la vie.

Durant cette soirée, toutes les activités seront présentées à la fois par les deux groupes. Le tout se passera sous forme de soirée chic que nos gens d’affaires connaissent bien. Il s’agit d’un souper 4 services entremêlé de spectacles et de musique.

La participation des personnes vivant avec un handicap à tous les étapes de cette soirée leur permettra de vivre une expérience exceptionnelle. Ce genre de soirée est habituellement hors de leur portée. De plus, tout au long de la soirée, ces personnes auront la chance de se dépasser en se présentant sur scène dans divers rôles ou en étant simplement présents dans un univers qu’ils ne connaissent pas et qui leur demande toute une préparation.

Cette soirée a aussi comme but : de présenter qui sont les personnes avec un handicap dans la région, de créer des liens et de permettre aux gens de la communauté de voir les défis de tous les jours mais surtout les forces souvent méconnues de nos personnes vivant avec un handicap.

En jumelant les gens de la communauté à nos personnes ayant un handicap, nous pouvons assurer que tous les participants vivront une soirée haute en émotions.

À long terme, nous sommes convaincus que ce rapprochement, communauté et personnes avec un handicap, aura un influence positif et durable. Il permettra de briser l’isolement, créer des liens solides, augmenter les connaissances et les habiletés sociales, favoriser l’emploi et la participation citoyenne de nos personnes ayant un handicap.

La région comprend un grand nombre de personnes vivant avec un handicap et/ou une différence. Nous voulons leur faire une place dans tous les sphères de la vie communautaire. Pour le Réseau Mieux-être du Nord-Ouest, en utilisant des pratiques CAA (compétence, appartenance et autonomie), il est possible d’engager les gens dans le changement et d’influencer toute une culture.

Vous êtes déjà plusieurs à avoir expérimenté une telle soirée mais laissez-nous le plaisir de vous surprendre à nouveau.
